How to book an exam

Once a new application has been checked, all references have been verified and documents have been processed you will be added to the candidate list for the ORE Part 1 exam. On average we currently estimate that it takes one month from the date an application is received to the date you will join the list.

When you are added to the candidate list for ORE Part 1, you will receive two emails to your specified email address from us containing log in details for the GDC ePay website.  We advise you to add ePay@gdc-uk.org to your email safe senders list to ensure these emails are not considered spam by your email provider.

We strongly advise you to create your ePay account as soon as you receive your login details. Once you have set up your account on ePay, you will be able to book and pay for your exam online.  Payment of the full exam fee is required at the time of the booking.  Credit or debit card payments must be made online. The Exams team will not be able to accept credit or debit card details over the telephone.

If you find that there are no exams available for booking, it means that all exams are fully booked at the present time.

Candidates who wish to book and pay for the exam by cheque should contact the exams team as soon as possible. A member of the exams team will do their best to secure you a place and will advise you of the deadline for your cheque payment.

There will be one exam date available to book at a time.  When one exam date is fully booked the next scheduled exam date will become available to book online.  Every candidate on the relevant candidate list will be informed by email when a new exam date becomes available for booking.

All places on exams will be booked on a first come first served basis. We therefore recommend that you check your email and ePay account regularly.

An easy to use, step-by-step help guide is available on the ePay website.

Withdrawals, refunds and cancellations

You must email the exams team at examinations@gdc-uk.org to inform the team of your request to withdraw from the exam. Where possible, we ask that you provide as least 5 weeks notice so that there is a chance to replace you on the exam with another candidate. Please refer to our policy:

Withdrawals and refunds policy (250KB, PDF)

We are aware that candidates who have withdrawn from the exam have advised other candidates. This creates a high volume of phone calls to the team from candidates who are keen to take the available place. Please be advised that we are unable to tell callers when we cancel a booking over the phone as it would be unfair on other candidates waiting to sit the exam. Any withdrawals will be made available to all candidates waiting to sit the exam. All candidates will be notified by email if there are any spaces that become available.

Refunds are dependent on the GDC being able to replace you on the exam. If your withdrawal is due to medical reasons, we may be able to provide you with a refund if the required documentation is submitted. Please refer to our guidance:

Cancellations

We will advise candidates via the ORE latest information page if there are cancellations and how we intend to fill any spare places.
