Dental Complaints Service
Who we are we
The Dental Complaints Service (DCS) is funded by the General Dental Council (GDC) but we operate at arms length of it.
The public and GDC registrants can use our services for free.
What we do
We can look into complaints about private dental services provided by dental practices in the UK.
We aim to resolve complaints fairly, efficiently, transparently and quickly by working with the patient and dental professional involved. The service is completely impartial.
Most of the complaints we receive are from patients and have been most frequently about:
- dentures;
- crowns;
- fillings;
- root canal treatments;
- bridges; and
- pain, service and cost.
How to contact us
We have a local rate helpline, which is 08456 120 540 If you ring that number, you’ll get through to one of our complaints officers based in our Croydon office who can explain more about the service’s role.
Full details of the DCS and what it can offer can also be found on our own
website.
What we can’t help with
We can't look at complaints about NHS treatment. We also can't look at staff matters - such as recruitment, pay and discipline - or at commercial or contractual issues. Neither can we consider compensation.
